From Evidence to Verdict: Keeping Every Finding Cited

A cited finding in the ConformOS workbench

Every ConformOS finding passes through the same chain before it reaches a report. Here is what each step guarantees.

The Chain

ConformOS enforces one sequence, and it never shortcuts around it:

  1. Evidence is uploaded and indexed against the clauses it supports.
  2. A grounded AI audit analyzes each clause against that evidence — not against general knowledge.
  3. Each result is a cited verdict: pass, gap, or needs-review, pointing at the document and location it rests on.
  4. A human decision accepts, rejects, or requests a fix, recorded against the person who made it.
  5. The dossier carries the whole trail into reports.

Why Citations Matter

An audit finding that cannot be traced to its source is an assertion, not evidence. Citations are what let a reviewer — or a client, or a regulator — verify a verdict without re-collecting the files.

They are also what makes re-runs cheap: when evidence changes, only the affected requirements need re-evaluation, and the citation trail shows exactly which findings moved.

Humans Sign, Not Models

The AI never signs. Every consequential decision — accepting a verdict, signing off a dossier, issuing a report — is made by a named human auditor, and sign-off locks the dossier state so the issued report matches what was actually reviewed.

That is the difference between automation that produces a draft and automation you can put your name behind.
